Wellness company puts money where mouth is with 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.
BELLEVUE, WASH. May 6, 2009 — Limeade, Inc., an employee wellness company, today announced its Donut-Back Guarantee (all rights reserved), an industry first.
Limeade VP of sales and service Chris Dickinson explained: “If our customers are not 100 percent satisfied with the Limeade service, we will refund their most recent three months of prepaid service fees – in donut form.” The Limeade online wellness service costs just under four donuts a month per employee by today’s exchange rates of approximately $0.50 per donut – making the offer worth a dozen donuts per employee. The offer is good for a year on sales closed through June 30, 2009.
For a 2,000-person company, that’s 24,000 donuts, representing between 480,000 and 960,000 calories (depending on donut shop, glaze, filling and sprinkle options).
“And if you order a dozen, we might throw in the 13th, depending on how big your order is,” offered Mary, teller at preferred Limeade vendor WesternCo Donut in Bellevue, Washington.
“You can mix and match glazed, jelly, maple bars, bear claws, whatever you like,” Mary added in a recent phone interview. Carb-heavy but less tasty “faux-nuts” – including scones, biscotti, elephant ears and bagels – are explicitly excluded from the offer.
Three donut holes count as one donut.
The offer signals Limeade’s willingness to stand behind its service, while forcing an explicit choice about the most effective way to spend $2 a month per employee. Employers concerned about the $800 per month typically spent on one employee’s health insurance face a tough call: They can spend one quarter of one percent of this amount to measure and improve all the key drivers of well-being, productivity and health in their workforce … or they can treat everyone to a delicious Monday morning donut.
Limeade CEO Henry Albrecht, who limits himself to a few crullers a year, added, “In lean times like these, CEOs face some tough tradeoffs.”
