Puget Sound Blood Center Increases Wellness Engagement by 147% ; Executive Sponsorship, Limeade Engagement Platform Key Drivers
Limeade, a technology company that builds happy, healthy, high-performing workforces for Fortune 1000 companies, announced today a new client success story from Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC). PSBC is a recognized national leader in research, innovation, education and excellence in blood, medical and laboratory services.
Through the Limeade platform, PSBC developed an internal employee wellness program branded ‘Thrive.’ The Thrive program encompasses a broad view of employee well-being including work-life balance, values training, community involvement and diversity initiatives.
Over the last four years, employee participation in ‘Thrive’ has increased from 36 percent to 89 percent. As a result, PSBC has also increased overall participation in wellness coaching, onsite biometric and vaccination events and seen improvement in three biometric indicators – BP systolic, triglyceride and glucose. PSBC credits program success to strong and sustained executive leadership support and involvement.
As a part of the overall strategy for “Thrive”, PSBC executives sponsored unique challenges that aligned with company culture and strategy as well as their own personal interests. From “Eating Local” with the Chief Employee Relations Officer to a “Steps Challenge” with the Chief Scientific Officer, these company challenges turned the executive team into wellness ambassadors. “Puget Sound Blood Center showcases the importance of an engaged executive team to driving a culture of health and well-being,” said Limeade CEO Henry Albrecht. “PSBC developed unique and authentic ways to connect their people with senior leaders, creating increased participation and enthusiasm.” “Watching senior executives make our wellness program a priority created a wave of awareness and enthusiasm that motivated our workforce to get on board,” said Karlyn Byham, Benefit Administrator at PSBC. “Limeade helped us turn executives into wellness champions.”
