As the holidays approach, don’t forget to give thanks to your employees! For many of us, the workplace is a true extended family.
Why this is important
When employees feel their employer cares about their well-being, they’re 38% more engaged. And a great way to show your employees that you care is to call out their great work. In fact, 78% of employees would work harder if they felt their efforts were better appreciated.
How you can show appreciation
You don’t need to request extra budget — a little goes a long way. Think of thoughtful, yet inexpensive gifts like gift cards to a local coffee shop, movie tickets or flowers. And in an age of emails and texts, even a simple handwritten note really stands out. Take a few moments to write out your thanks in a nice card or even grab a colorful Post-it® note. Try to make it personal. The goal is to acknowledge the recipient and their accomplishment or hard work in a meaningful way.
