3 ways to give thanks as a team
By: Mady Peterson

During the craziness of the holidays, it’s important to take a step back and count our blessings, thinking of the people around us and in our community that may need our help.
Giving Back is Good
Numerous studies show that giving is actually not as selfless as you may think – it’s actually good for our health. In addition to evoking feelings of gratitude and happiness, giving also strengthens our social connections, provides a natural combatant against stress and depression and to top it off – we might even live a little longer. Research shows a strong link between living altruistically and lower mortality rates.
3 Easy Ways to Give Thanks as a Company This Season
There are many ways that you can use your engagement platform to inspire your employees to give back. Below are three ways we gave back at Limeade this year:
1. Pay it Forward
With so many worthy causes and amazing organizations to choose from, it can be hard to know where to begin. Here at Limeade we decided we wanted to learn more about all of the ways our team goes above and beyond for others. We launched a challenge, dubbed “To Infinity and Beyond,” in which employees simply had to share their awesome acts of kindness with the group. This is a great option if you want to reward your employees for pursuing causes they find personally meaningful while also allowing your team to learn more about each other.
2. Celebrate Movember
November is the official month of the Movember campaign – a global initiative that is held each year to promote awareness and raise funds to improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems. There are many ways you can invite your employees to participate in Movember at work. Here at Limeade we invited our Mo Bros to start clean shaven and sport their ‘staches throughout the month and we encouraged our Mo Sistas to get creative with their participation.

3. Adopt-A-Family
This year we chose to sponsor a struggling family through Bellevue Lifespring’s Holiday Adopt-A-Family program. Monetary contributions towards a gift card and other household goods and non-perishable food items donated by our team will allow a family of seven to share a warm, abundant Thanksgiving meal. To make it easy for employees, we divided up a list of donation items and asked employees who were interested to sign up.
