Why We Love Luvvie Ajayi
By: Mady Peterson

As a writer, speaker, advocate and “professional troublemaker,” Luvvie Ajayi wants to help others leave the world better than they found it. At Limeade, we’re focused on helping every employee know their company cares. Just like Ajayi believes in doing better, we believe in improving well-being in the world.
We also believe that a great employee experience requires care. The Limeade Institute recognizes “care” as the provision of what’s necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance and protection of something. It’s looking after and providing for the needs of someone or something. And we know that caring for employees is good for culture and for business. In fact, the numbers prove it:
- 99% of employees with high well-being and organizational support recommend their company as a great place to work and 91% are less likely to leave their company
- When an employee feels their employer cares about their well-being, they’re 38% more engaged
As a keynote speaker at Limeade Engage in 2020, Ajayi encouraged attendees to get a little more comfortable with being uncomfortable in order to achieve incredible personal and professional growth.
WHO IS LUVVIE AJAYI?

Quick-witted truth-teller Ajayi is the spark we can’t wait to ignite at Limeade Engage. Her “Do-Better Manual” book I’m Judging You is known for, “doling out the hard truths and a road map for bringing some “act right” into our lives, social media and popular culture.” Ajayi’s podcast Rants & Randomness covers all things life and pop culture through her lens. HERE ARE THREE REASONS WHY WE LOVE LUVVIE AJAYI:
1. Luvvie Ajayi believes in speaking up.
Ajayi is a believer in not only speaking up, but speaking the truth. And she knows it takes courage to do so. Between uncomfortable situations and offensive behaviors in the workplace, Ajayi will be the first to tell you that the person you’ve been waiting to speak up is actually you.
2. Luvvie Ajayi doesn’t let fear rule her life.
Being fearless to Ajayi means not letting fear control her decisions. Fear both in the workplace and in life can dominate a person. Whether it’s fear of losing a job, uncertainty about the company’s future or personal life worries and struggles, fear can be a huge factor in success or failure. Ajayi’s message of being fearless also means having integrity and being true to yourself. And in order to not let fear rule her life, she chooses to embrace it, own it and actively pursue it.
3. Luvvie Ajayi believes in getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Luvvie Ajayi is a changemaker focused on disruption — and she wants you to get uncomfortable with being comfortable. As a bold, brave, optimistic and relentless leader, Ajayi has a firm belief that comfort is overrated. As she puts it, “all comfort has done is maintain the status quo, so we’ve got to get comfortable with being uncomfortable by speaking these hard truths when they’re necessary.”
