Limeade welcomes Dan Henry to board of directors

We recently welcomed Dan Henry, chief human resources officer at Bright Horizons, to the Limeade board of directors. Learn more about our newest member in this Q&A.

Why did you go into the HR industry?

If people are truly an organization’s greatest asset, then helping them reach their full potential is the greatest contribution leaders can make. I entered the field to help force the intersection of human promise and organizational performance.

You’ve been critical of corporate wellness – why’s that?

Wellness is just one component of overall self-reported measures of well-being. Data, including studies we’ve conducted at Bright Horizons, make this clear. Healthy people may have real, unmanaged life struggles affecting their productivity, which have nothing to do with traditional wellness concerns – unless they get sick. Enabling people to set and manage life goals is a better approach.

What are you most proud of in your career?

I’m proud to have worked with great people throughout my career. They’ve helped me make a meaningful difference for the organizations I’ve worked for.

What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to another CHRO?

Install supportive systems that meet people where they are. This includes tools, resources and visibility to help people perform at their best in every area of their lives. With your support, they’ll be better performers and consumers.

Why did you decide to join the Limeade board of directors?

I see Limeade leading the way in the effort to integrate HR solutions. I love the Limeade approach – that idea that leaders can measure, manage and impact personal well-being in a dynamic and virtual way. Helping the ‘whole person’ starts with uncluttering the support systems they need.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Focused, funny and fair.

How do you spend your time outside work?

I enjoy playing golf, going on walks and spending time with my family.
